The much eagerly awaited schedule for the world cup cricket tournament of the year 2023, has been declared by the International Cricket Council(ICC). The tournament will be hosted by country India and is scheduled to kick off on October 5, 2023. The tournament will be from October 5 to Sunday, 19 November.
Total 10 teams will participate in the tournament. Eight teams have already qualified for the big event where as for the remaining two spots the qualifier matches are still underway.
The top four teams of the group will proceed to the knockout stage and semi-finals after playing their matches in the round-robin format with the other nine teams.
England will play the opening match against New Zealand at Ahmedabad on Thursday, 5 October.
The first semi-finals will be played on Wednesday, November 15 whereas the Second semi-finals on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
The Finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup Tournament 2023 are scheduled on Sunday, November 19, at Ahmedabad Cricket Stadium.
All the matches will be intriguing to watch. In a country like India where cricket game is regarded as nothing less than a religion, and the players as God.
The tournament will surely drive them crazy and especially on Sunday 15 October when arch-rivals Indian and Pakistan will face off at Ahmedabad. It will be the match of the year.
To make it bigger and more spectacle the ICC launched the official trophy of the World Cup 2023 into the space.
This will go down in records as the first sporting trophy to be launched into space to around 120,000 feet.
The trophy will be taken on a world tour before the start of the mega event. It will travel to 18 countries throughout the world including Malaysia, France, Kuwait, Bahrain, Italy, the USA, Nigeria, Uganda, the United States of America, and the host country India.
It will give an opportunity to the cricket fans around the world to catch a glimpse and feel the thrill of the tournament.
